Stop Acting Like You Own Yourself!

Its amazing how we treat something that is ours versus how we would treat that same object if it belonged to someone else. We tend to be more cautious if it’s someone else’s. We fear being held accountable for damaging it.

Why don’t some of us act that same way when it comes to how we treat our own bodies and lives? If you are a Christian, you have accepted Jesus’ death on the cross as payment for your sins. You don’t own yourselves. If the truth be told, you never did. God made each of us in His own image. He is the Creator. We are the creation. The last time I checked, it’s the Creator who owns and dictates purpose to the creation. Why do we keep trying to tell God what we are going or not going to do?

I wrote a song entitled Funny. It simply says: Ain’t it funny. How some people try and tell God what to do. They must not know He makes the rules. See they can’t tell Him what to do. The title of this song has nothing to do with funny as in ha ha funny, but ain’t it a trip funny.

I Corinthians 9:24-26 – Remember that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize. You also must run in such a way that you will win. All athletes practice strict self-control. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. So I run straight to the goal with purpose in every step.

We cannot run with purpose if we are not operating as God has created us to operate. A toaster is not living out its purpose if it is trying to keep food cold. A refrigerator is not living out its purpose if it is trying to cook the food. So we too are not living out our purpose if we are trying to do something different than what we were created to do.

Think about it and let me know what you think.

God Bless you.
