Picture this. You’re working hard in the church. You are trying to do all that you think God is calling you to do. Out of the blue, a false accusation comes your way. You feel torn down, abused as if you have come under attack. You ask yourself, why? I have found that it is when we are working the hardest for God that we come under the greatest attacks by the enemy. You noticed I said enemy (singular) and not enemies (plural). As believers, we have only one enemy; Satan. So when someone throws false accusations at you, it is not that someone who is attacking you. It is the enemy.
Ephesians 6:12 - For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those might powers of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms.
Who controls all of the evil rulers and authorities in this world that Ephesians 6:12 talks about? Satan. The Bible says that God threw Satan out of heaven to earth. Satan rules the earth. He is our one true enemy. As long as you are accepting the fact that you are living outside of God’s will or comfortable not living within your purpose, you usually don’t have a lot to worry about from Satan. He’s already deceived you. You are just a waste of his time. However as soon as you start to live under the guidance of Jesus Christ, you quickly move up in priority on the enemy’s to do list. You are now on his “A” list. He wants to do everything he can to discourage you and make you think that God does not really care about you.
Do you remember Job? He loved God and God blessed him in abundance. The enemy came to God and God actually recommended Job to the enemy. The enemy told God that the only reason Job serves you so diligently is because you have blessed him so greatly. The enemy told God, if you take away your blessings he would not serve you like he does. God gave the enemy permission to attack job in every way, however he could not kill him.
I use Job as an example to make two points.
1) If you are a child of God, anything that the enemy does to you has to be allowed by God. There is not one thing that happens to you that does not pass through the hands of God. If it passed through God’s hands, God has a use for what the enemy has done or will do to you. He wants to make you stronger, wiser and more confident.
2) God does not do evil things to you. He may allow evil things to take place. And like any good parent, He disciplines when we do wrong. However, He will never harm you for harm sake. The enemy is the bully who would love nothing more than to see how bad he can make you hurt for no other reason than to see you hurt.
When unjust accusations come your way, do what Job did, Praise Him. Job said for naked I came into this world and naked I will go out. Blessed be the name of the Lord. He understood that regardless of what he owned, it is nothing without acknowledging the one who gave it to him.
Let’s all try our best to be like Job. Praise Him in our hurts as well as in our Joy.
